A Cool Night On The Way

August 7, 2008 – 5:07 pm

As the cooler air continues to move south, a few instability showers and thundershowers are possible this evening.  These will only amount to 1 or 2 on the radar.

Once the sun goes down, the skies will clear.  It will be a cool night with lows in the 50s.

Highs on Friday are forecast in the upper 70s and lower 80s.  Skies will be mostly sunny.

Where Are The Dog Days Of Summer?

Central Indiana is getting off to a good start on this Thursday morning. Temperatures are in the 60s with a few clouds in the area. A weak trough of low pressure could trigger a spotty thundershower this afternoon.

So far this summer we have only had 2 days of 90 degree highs. During a normal summer this should occur 18 times. I really don’t see any 90s in the near future. Our rain chances should be on the rise for the first portion of next week. However, the computer models are over the place this morning causing my confidence level to be below average after Sunday. Stay tuned for further updates!

Cooler Changes

As cooler air arrives, there will be a chance for a stray thundershower over the next 24 hours.  Most of the area will stay rain free, as the thundershowers that do develop will only be 1 or 2 on the radar.  Overnight temperatures will fall into the lower and middle 60s.  Highs are forecast in the lower and middle 80s on Thursday.

Cooler air arrives for Friday and the weekend, with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Cooler Changes

A cold front is sitting just to our south, but close enough for a pop-up shower or thundershower this evening.

Expect partly cloudy skies overnight, as lows fall into the lower and middle 60s.  Forecast highs on Thursday are in the lower and middle 80s.

This is the beginning of a cool change for Friday and the weekend.  As the cooler air pushes south, a stray shower or thundershower is possible Thursday afternoon.

The cooler air really arrives for Friday and the weekend.

Some Relief On The Way!

It is still warm and humid across Indiana as of 10am this morning. Dewpoint temperatures are around 70 degrees. Cooler and less humid air should filter in beginning tomorrow for the next few days. We will keep the threat for a spotty shower in the forecast through tomorrow. The weekend still looks wonderful!

Better Weather On The Way!

After receiving heavy rain across Indiana on Tuesday, our weather pattern should settle down over the next few days. I am going to keep in a small chance for a spotty thundershower today and tomorrow. Highs will climb into the middle 80s.

Cooler and less humid air will arrive by Friday and the weekend. Right now, it still looks like a great weekend to head out to the state fair. We should see an increasing threat for showers and thunderstorms by the first of next week.

By the way, next Wednesday is Fair Weather Day at the State Fair. Come on out and meet all of the Channel 8 Forecasters!

Storm Chances - Weather Pattern Changes

August 5, 2008 – 10:41 pm

So far, most of the storms have stayed across the southern third of Indiana this evening.  A couple of storms are possible overnight, but the main focus for the unsettled weather is shifting south.

Behind the front on Wednesday it will be a bit less humid.  It will still be a warm day with highs in the middle and upper 80s.  The surface cold front is still close enough for the chance for a stray thundershower on Wednesday.  The upper level pattern will shift toward the end of the week.  As the cooler air arrives, there is a chance for a pop-up thundershower on Thursday.  The cooler and less humid air will be in place for Friday and the weekend.

More storms possible…

August 5, 2008 – 5:04 pm
more-storms-possible

A cold front is going to be moving through the area tonight bringing a chance for some scattered t-storms.

Thanks to the cold front, tomorrow will be less humid and more comfortable. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

There is a slight chance for some isolated t-storms tomorrow behind the cold front but most of the day should be dry.

The jet stream will continue to move south this week which will bring even cooler temperatures for the rest of the week.

Highs will be in the lower 80s this weekend and it is looking to be a dry one!
